The Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre stands as one of the earliest specialized tertiary care private trust hospitals in the nation. Back in the late 60s, when the establishment of large private hospitals was an uncommon occurrence, this institution was envisioned and generously endowed to the city of Mumbai by Seth Lokoomal Chanrai.
Seth Lokoomal Chanrai hailed from a family of philanthropists engaged in businesses across various countries. The family had previously supported numerous projects, both small and large in scale. Seth Lokoomal entrusted Dr. Shantilal Mehta with the responsibility of establishing an ultra-modern medical center, strategically located, where individuals of all races and beliefs could access the benefits of cutting-edge healthcare.
